Group Introduction Protecting and passing on Azerbaijani weaving culture, epitomized by carpet culture
Dr. Roya Taghiyeva has actively worked to safeguard and transmit Azerbaijan’s weaving culture, which is represented by its carpet traditions.
Her efforts have highlighted the unique aspects of Azerbaijani weaving culture compared to those of other countries and have helped it gain recognition as a distinctive cultural heritage.
At the same time, she has served as a bridge to promote Azerbaijani weaving culture globally.
Through her management of a carpet museum and the organization of various exhibitions, she has introduced this intangible cultural heritage to multiple generations.
Additionally, she has undertaken projects to teach weaving techniques to displaced persons affected by war, ensuring the continuity of this endangered intangible cultural heritage and fostering its safeguarding.

Study and highlight the rich symbolism, patterns, and techniques of Azerbaijani carpets and explore their role in Azerbaijani customs, stories, and social life.
Activation :

Studying the historical development of Azerbaijani carpets, documenting their origins, regional styles, and impact on the Caucasus region.
International activities :

Played a key role in the inscription of Azerbaijani carpet weaving on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010.
