Group Introduction
Community development and intangible cultural heritage protection through weaving techniques of the Chiapas region Impacto, which is a civic association, was founded in 2012 in Chiapas, Mexico. This organization's activities, which were established to reduce poverty and inequality in Mexico, are helping residents to increase their income through cultural activities and to strengthen their economic foundation. Impacto is fostering professional weaving technicians by planning vocational training programs for women along with artisans with weaving skills. Crafts made by them are popular in the local market, and intangible cultural heritage has become not an end in itself, but a means to promote sustainable development, gender equality, copyright protection, and the welfare of local residents.
Major Activities
Educational activities  Education for local residents related to human rights and business.
Promotion of ICH  Presentation of Recommendations for Aboriginal Rights, Holding traditional friday campaigns.
International Cooperation   Round table on rights of intangible cultural heritage with national institutions.
